harp guitar

There are hundreds of different types of musical instruments in the world. Almost every country has its own traditional music and musical instruments that were developed over the centuries. Each instrument has its own melody, pitch, rhythm, timbre, intensity and duration, as well as notes and chords.
Musical instruments can be classified based on the type of instrument: Chordophones (strings), aerophones (wood and brass), idiophones (percussion) and membranophones (drums). Stringed instruments or Chordophones are those that produce sounds when the string is plucked or strummed. The kind of sound produced depends on the mass of the chain length of the portion of the string vibrates, the tension in the chain, and the point where the string is strummed apart from the type of cavity resonance of the instrument. Viola, violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, violin, harp, lute, banjo, balalaika, koto, ukulele, etc. are part of stringed instruments.
Wind and brass generate music when air enters the instrument by blowing. This air vibrates inside the instrument on a particular frequency, thus producing sound. The kind of music depends on the method of sound production, the shape of the instrument, the length column of air over the construction of the instrument. Flute, piccolo, clarinet, oboe, horn, mouth organ, saxophone, bassoon and some instruments winds, while the French horn, tuba, trumpet and trombone are brass instruments.
Percussion instruments produce sounds when strikes. The size of the instrument with the shape of the resonant cavity determines the sound. Some musical instruments are percussion cymbals the snare drum, bells, gong chime, xylophone, bass drum, maracas, castanets and cymbals.
Drums Drums include cup, barrel drum, the frame drum, tambourine and drum friction. Other types of musical instruments are piano, keyboards, organ, harpsichord and glockenspiel. | | Complete Concertos For Guitar & Harp $14.99 One of Spain's most popular composers, Joaquin Rodrigo produced a large body of music but is remembered mainly for one work, the 'Concierto de Aranjuez' for guitar and orchestra, which became an international hit and was paraphrased memorably by Miles Davis on his 'Sketches of Spain' album. Unlike many Spanish artists who fled their country after the civil war, Rodrigo returned in 1939 and his famous concerto, written the following year, is an idyllic contemplation of the way things were, not years but centuries before, an evocation of chivalry and castled landscapes. He did not write another guitar concerto for many years, but when Andr?s Segovia prevailed upon him he produced the 'Fantasia para un gentilhombre,' probably his second-best known work, based on themes from a seventeenth century guitar lesson book and once again summoning up the spirit of ancient Spain. This Philips Duo collection includes Rodrigo's three solo guitar concertos along with those for two and four guitars and the related concertante works for harp. The well recorded performances are all first rate, with Antonio de Almeida an especially compelling soloist. |

| | Harp and Soul $17.98 Praise for Roberto Perera's latest attempt to explore both Harp and Soul must begin and end with accolades for twisting the Eagles' moody "Hotel California" into a Latin, fire breathing fiesta where the jamming guests are having too good a time to check out any time they like. Then he takes a late night powder with a subtle take on Babyface's "Breathe Again." Perera, who plays the gates of St. Peter like a manic acoustic guitarist, spends the rest of the disc either wildly ecstatic (the orchestral tinged hysteria of "Love Dance") or simply breezing through a series of rhythmic romances. While his heritage lends a South American percussion tourism effect, he adds some commercial sheen by going for the everyday North American street vibe on the funky fusion of "Harp Beat." Through all the danceable excitement, Perera mercifully takes a few moments to show us the heart in his harp, most notably on the lilting, lyrical closer, a well-earned, aptly titled "Siesta." ~ Jonathan Widran, All Music GuidePerformers: Robert Thomas, Jr. - Hand Percussion; Manny Patino - Bass (Electric), Bass (Upright); Roberto Perera - Harp; Juan Areco - Guitar (12 String), Guitar (Acoustic); Ed Calle - Flute, Flute (Alto); Abel Pabon - Keyboards, Piano; Archie Pena - Drums, Percussion; Rafael Solano - Percussion |

| | Glass Harp $13.98 The debut of Glass Harp is undeniably their strongest work, with a more unified sound and a more polished feel overall than the other records. The group's strongest songs -- "Changes," "Can You See Me," "Look in the Sky" -- appear here, much of it in the vein of Cream and Jimi Hendrix. Gentle "Black Horse" is a nice touch, and the group is not pulling apart so much on the first record. Keaggy is an amazing guitarist with innovative playing techniques and an ear for texture and tone color, while Sferra stands out as the strongest writer of the group. For any fan of late-'60s classic rock, this will be an excellent addition to your collection. ~ Mark W. B. The audio disc features 12 classic tracks culled from Vollenweider's fascinating catalog, including well-known gems from his breakthrough Down to the Moon, and two songs from Cosmopoly (including the exotic "Cor Do Amor," with Brazilian vocal great Milton Nascimento). There's also the opening track from Vox, "Hey You! Yes, You..." and a previously unpublished song, "Moonday," taken from a 1987 live appearance in Tokyo. Kin Kou was created not only for new Vollenweider endeavors, but also as an ongoing outlet for 24-bit remastered editions of all of his previous albums. | | Harp: A Time to Sing $22.98 Recorded in 1984 and originally released the following year, this concert album unites four longtime friends from two eras: Holly Near and Arlo Guthrie from the '60s generation and ex-Weavers Ronnie Gilbert and Pete Seeger from their parents' generation. HARP combines the first letters of their four names. This double-CD re-release certainly has its moments, some of which are among the 13 songs that have been added to the original recording. Among the best tracks are Seeger-led renditions of "Wimoweh" and "Guantanamera" and Guthrie's readings of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" and Steve Goodman's "City of New Orleans." Some of the between-song storytelling -- such as Guthrie's tale of how he first heard the Goodman composition -- is also worth hearing. Its high spirits, abundant talent, and strong moments notwithstanding, however, A Time to Sing never quite takes off. Like most albums with long spoken bits, this one will have listeners hitting the fast-forward button during its frequent monologues after a few plays. Listeners may want to hit the same button during some of the topical material here, some of which seems lyrically dated and musically thin. It's also disappointing that little collaboration seems apparent. Instead of an album from a real quartet, much of this sounds like a sampler of tracks from four solo CDs. ~ Jeff Burger, All Music GuidePerformers: Pete Seeger - Banjo, Guitar (12 String Acoustic), Percussion, Recorder, Vocals; Ronnie Gilbert - Percussion, Vocals; Arlo Guthrie - Guitar (Acoustic), Piano (Electric), Synthesizer, Vocals; Jeff Langley - Piano; Holly Near - Percussion, Vocals |
