What is the cheapest acoustic guitar I can buy that is not crap?
I want to learn the guitar and want a cheap guitar which is good enough to do the job.
They try http://www.musiciansfriend.com deals really good and quality stuff. I bought a niece of mine a really nice starter guitar for under $ 100. They have "starter packs" which include a guitar, photos, bracelet, case, etc. Ibanez one I certainly recommend it and only $ 99! http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-IJV50-JamPack-Quick-Start?sku=519456 They usually port deals, too. Like free shipping on items over $ X or you can send a lot of things for only $ 9.99. I bought several instruments from them over the years and for much less than retail. Always delivered quickly and well packaged. Never any damage or issues. All you do not buy a guitar at Walmart or Target or other stores. They are very cheap and cheaply made, a guitar that will not only be listen whenever you pick up those low-drag out of tune as you LOL play acoustic guitar can also have this same problem, especially if string winds around a spool of plastic. The coil can be worn and crack and then begin to slip. Whatever you have saved to buy you'll end up spending on repairs – been there, done that lol

The new wave of country artists such as Garth Brooks and Clint Black was taking over the airwaves, and Randy Owens and the boys were on the wane. However, this 1993 release stands up the musical standards of Alabama's previous work; its merging of C&W, gospel and pop-rock is just as consistent and clever as ever.In general, CHEAP SEATS mixes Southern-fried rock tunes such as "Still Goin' Strong" and the title track "The Cheap Seats," with delicate ballads including the sorrowful "Katy Brought My Guitar Back Today" and the introspective "That Feeling." As usual, themes of American pride, the plight of the archetypal rural man, love, and love's loss, weave their way through this CD's 11 tracks. A valiant effort, CHEAP SEATS is a commendable swan song. |

Talk Is Cheap
$7.98 Seventeen-year-old singer/songwriter Dave Melillo will make you wish you were in high school -- or at least at an age where summers are still carefree days of wasting time with friends and navigating through butterflies-in-the-stomach relationships. His earnest Drive-Thru debut, Talk Is Cheap, is an acoustic and piano-tinged homage to restless youth that is ready for the embracement of his pop-punk brethren -- and not just the ones going through excruciating break-ups. It's hardly a shock that Jamie Wisner, the man behind the controls for Dashboard Confessional's first albums, produced the EP. His skill is perfect for the job, as Melillo's music is based in the same school of heartfelt rock that can simultaneously burst with bright passion on one track and strip back down to an emoting voice and six-strings on the next. As is the case, the EP sounds like the result of early Dashboard and the Starting Line blended into one fresh-faced emo milk shake with a touch of the Rocket Summer's boyish charm sprinkled on top for taste. Though the styling is similar, it's this combination that keeps the young songwriter a step past being another sulking Chris Carrabba acoustic clone: Basically, he just seems happier. Of course, love still hurts ("Sam's Song," "Morris County Blues"), but it's when Melillo unaffectedly addresses more age-specific topics like moving on past high school and appreciating one's youth that he shines. Quirky keyboards and handclaps help "Vatican Roulette" explore the awkwardness of a guy losing his virginity by following the naïve bravado of the drunken, noteworthy night, while "Knights of the Island Counter" is simply a summery ode to being young and enjoying life. Simple and pretty straightforward in his delivery, the not-yet-legal Melillo still has room to grow past the obvious hallmarks driving Drive-Thru's roster and the Dashboard Confessional branch of emo. But he's just getting started, and Talk Is Cheap is encouraging in that he has already found more to say outside of yesterday's broken heart. ~ Corey Apar, RoviPerformers: Dave Melillo - Guitar, Piano, Vocals; Matt Mendes - Guitar (Bass); James Paul Wisner - Guitar, Piano |

Cheap Thrills
$8.98 Cheap Thrills, the major-label debut of Janis Joplin, was one of the most eagerly anticipated, and one of the most successful, albums of 1968. Joplin and her band Big Brother & the Holding Company had earned extensive press notice ever since they played the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, but for a year after that their only recorded work was a poorly produced, self-titled album that they'd done early in their history for Mainstream Records; and it took the band and the best legal minds at Columbia Records seven months to extricate them from their Mainstream contract, so that they could sign with Columbia. All the while, demand continued to build, and they still faced the problem of actually delivering something worthy of the press they'd been getting -- Columbia even tried to record them live on-stage on the tour they were in the midst of when the new contract was signed, but somehow the concert tapes from early March of 1968 didn't capture the full depth of their work. So they spent March, April, and May in the studio with producer John Simon and, miraculously, emerged with something that was as exciting as anything they'd done on-stage. When Cheap Thrills appeared in August 1968 -- sporting a Robert Crumb cover on its gatefold jacket that constituted the most elaborate album design ever lavished on a rock album from Columbia Records, as well as a pop-art classic rivaling the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's jacket -- it shot into the charts, reaching number one and going gold within a couple of months, and "Piece of My Heart" became a Top 40 hit and helped to propel the LP to over a million sales. Joplin, with her ear- (and vocal cord-) shredding voice, was the obvious standout. Nobody had ever heard singing as emotional, as desperate, as determined, or as loud as Joplin's, and Cheap Thrills was her greatest moment. Not that everything was done full out -- there were relatively quiet moments on the album that were as compelling as the high-wattage showcases; her rendition of George Gershwin's "Summertime" was the finest rock reinterpretation of a standard done by anybody up to that time (though, in an incident recalled in his autobiography Clive, when Columbia Records president Clive Davis played it to Richard Rodgers to give him an example of some of the sounds that younger audiences of the late '60s were listening to, the 66-year-old Rodgers stomped out of the Columbia corporate offices in fury, vowing never to write another song); and Joplin's own "Turtle Blues" showed that she and the band could turn down and do credible acoustic blues, in something like an authentic period Bessie Smith (or, more properly, Memphis Minnie) sound. Big Brother's backup, typical of the guitar-dominated sound of San Francisco psychedelia, made up in enthusiasm what it lacked in precision. But everybody knew who the real star was, and Joplin played her last gig with Big Brother while the album was still on top of the charts. Neither she nor the band would ever equal i |
