What is the differance of gold or silver mouthpiece of the flute?
Why is one better then another? And who is better and why?
If the mouth is a different metal – gold, platinum, silver or gold-plated – then the fundamental instrument is different and the price is sure! But if only lipplate is gold and more than likely on a plated flute students – then it is so that people have allergic reactions to silver (or get a black mark on their faces) that will not happen. It is also the question of the riser (in lipplate, the edge of blowing) is another metal – but it gets more technical than I think you want. If you lipplate has a gold flute (what you call mouth) and it also looks like the inside of the mouth is washed with gold, then part of the process of surface treatment – has no effect on the sound. Basically, it costs maybe $ 50 to $ 75 for the manufacturer to do – but they often charge more, or make it sound like they are in you giving the moon Hah!
